The Co-operative Society is one of the longest-established and most respected retail organisations in the country serving millions of customers every day.
In the year 2000 the Chief Executive of the Heart of England Co-operative Society, one of the country's leading societies, was seeking to appoint a locally-based PR agency to raise awareness of the organisation’s recent re-branding (from the Coventry and East Mercia Co-operative Society to the Heart of England Co-op) the year before.
It was a successful appointment from the beginning, as the Heart of England Co-operative Society’s partnership with Century PR was to span 22 years with the agency becoming integral to raising awareness of the Society’s new brand and progressively its network of retail stores and funeral homes.
Century PR was also instrumental in helping to win a number of major awards for the Society and for achieving national as well as substantial front page local publicity for the launch of its unique tobacco profits initiative for local and worthy causes – acknowledged as a world first in the UK retail sector.
As a result of the success of the partnership, the Heart of England Co-operative Society became a leading retail voice locally and regionally not only highlighting many years of continuous record Society profits but most importantly the Society's community engagement through its Helping Hearts initiative which has donated over seven figures to local causes and charities.
